Understanding Coronary CT Angiography
What is Coronary CT Angiography?
Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) is an imaging technique to visualize the images of heart and arteries associated with it to detect any blockage. A dye is injected intravenously to highlight the plaques or blockages. This method helps to identify the heart related disorders at an early stage. A CCTA is recommended if a person has symptoms of heart attack including chest pain, irregular heart rate, difficulty in breathing, fainting and dizziness.
Unlike the traditional coronary angiogram it does not involve any catheter. Occasional cases of reaction to dye can be seen. Pregnant women and kidney patients should pre inform the physician about their condition.
