Understanding CT Scan Angiography Neck
What is CT Scan Angiography Neck?
A CT angiography (or a carotid angiogram or angiography) is an x-ray of the neck in which a special dye is used with the camera to take detailed pictures of the blood vessels present in the neck and head region. The scanner can capture images of the large arteries of the neck which directly connect to the brain. It is a non-invasive and painless procedure that takes approximately 1-2 hours.
Doctors suggest this test if the patient experiences symptoms like sudden weakness and numbness in the face or one side of the body, trouble in speech and understanding, dizziness or loss of balance, or severe headache. The test can be useful in visualizing blood flow. It helps in the diagnosis of any blockages or narrowing of arteries or aneurysms.
