Understanding CT Scan Coronary with Perfusion Angiography (CTA)
What is CT Scan Coronary with Perfusion Angiography (CTA)?
Coronary CT Angiography With Perfusion is a noninvasive test that helps to detect heart diseases. This test uses CT (computed tomography) to produce a detailed image of the heart and its blood vessels. This test uses contrast material which helps to evaluate blood flow to the heart. This test helps to detect any blockage or narrowing of blood vessels. This test can also help monitor the efficacy of treatment for heart disease. This test helps to identify medical conditions such as atherosclerosis (fat deposition in the blood vessels), coronary artery disease, and pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs). You may get this test done if you have symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, and fatigue.
What is CT Scan Coronary with Perfusion Angiography (CTA) used for?
- To diagnose severe coronary artery diseases and any blockage or narrowing of the coronary arteries of the heart
- To detect chronic ischemic cerebrovascular disease (blockage of the heart blood vessel which results from the clot formed from the excessive fat or cholesterol)
- To find out angina (chest pain) and heart attack (myocardial infarction) condition
- To monitor blood vessels blood flow after the heart surgery of patient
- To evaluate cancer/tumor in the blood vessels and congenital abnormalities of the heart
