Understanding Echinococcus Antibody, IgG in Kochi
What is Echinococcus Antibody, IgG in Kochi?
Echinococcus Antibody IgG test is a serological test used to diagnose antibodies to Echinococcosis (also known as hydatidosis), a disease caused by Echinococcus, a species of tapeworm. Patients suffering from Echinococcosis develop cysts in the lungs and the liver. Undiagnosed, the disease may remain silent or latent for years if not diagnosed. The symptoms of Echinococcosis are chest pain, cough for lung cysts, abdominal pain and biliary duct obstruction for liver cysts.
The diagnosis is usually done by imaging or serological methods. However, the serological method of testing is preferred more often. In serological testing, the blood sample of a patient is taken in a sterile environment, and the sample is tested for Echinococcus Immunoglobin (IgG) antibodies. The test is Negative if no IgG antibody is found. It is Positive if Echinococcosi IgG antibody is detected.
