What is Glucose (2 hrs After 75 g Glucose Load)?
The Glucose (2 hrs After 75 g Glucose Load) is a blood test used to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes. This test involves drinking a 75 g glucose solution and measuring blood sugar levels two hours later to ensure they are within a healthy range. Your doctor might recommend the Glucose (2 hrs After 75 g Glucose Load) test if you exhibit symptoms of diabetes such as frequent urination, excessive thirst, blurred vision, increased hunger, or unexplained weight loss. It is also recommended for individuals at higher risk of diabetes, including those with a family history of the condition, obesity, or metabolic syndrome. This test can also be part of Oral glucose tolerance test: Ensure at least 3 days of unrestricted diet (greater than 150 grams of carbohydrate intake daily) and normal physical activity. Don't exercise excessively before the test. Tell your doctor about all medications and supplements you take. Some medications can affect the test results. Do not eat, drink (tea/ coffee/ aerated drinks) or smoke during the test.
NOTE: Parameters involved- 1. For this test, the patient should drink a solution containing 75 g of glucose anhydrous (equivalent to 82.5 g of glucose monohydrate) dissolved in 250-300 mL of cold water and consume orally over a 5-minute period. The blood sample should then be collected 2 hours after starting the 75 g glucose test load intake.

Interpretations
- Blood glucose level between 70 and 140 mg/dL- Normal
- Blood glucose between 141 and 199 mg/dL- Impaired glucose tolerance or prediabetes
- Blood glucose level of 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) or higher- Indicative of Diabetes
