Karyotyping by G-Banding Peripheral Blood, also known as chromosome analysis. Chromosomes are thread-like structures that constitute the DNA and genetic makeup of an individual. Humans have a total of 46 chromosomes present as 23 pairs (one each from the mother or father). If there is an anomaly in the number, size, or shape of chromosomes, this can point to a genetic disease.
