Understanding MRI Angio Abdomen Arota
What is MRI Angio Abdomen Arota?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) angio abdomen aorta with contrast is used to visualise the anatomy and the pattern of blood flow through the abdominal aorta (a large blood vessel which supplies blood from the heart to other parts of the body) along with its branches. This is a radiationless test which uses strong magnetic and radio waves to create detailed multiple images. The images captured during the MRI scan can be stored on an electronic device and printed on a film. You may be asked to take an oral solution of the radio-contrast agent or be given the same in an injectable form for better images.
What is MRI Angio Abdomen Arota used for?
- To diagnose any suspected plaque formation (atherosclerosis)
- To identify any enlargement of the aorta (aortic aneurysm) or any abnormal communication between blood vessels (arteriovenous malformation)
- To detect any injury to the aorta after some trauma
- To detect any obstruction in the aorta
- To identify any tumor / cyst / abnormal tissue growth in the aorta or its surrounding area
