Understanding MRI Foetal
What is MRI Foetal?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) foetal creates a picture of the baby in the womb of a pregnant mother and its surrounding soft tissues.
This test is prescribed by the doctor to keep an eye on the development of the baby inside the womb and to analyze foetal brain, abdomen, bones, chest which are not covered under ultrasound.
What is MRI Foetal used for?
- To diagnose extent of obesity in pregnant mother, oligohydramnios (deficiency of amniotic fluid) and advanced gestational age.
- To detect foetal lung volumes (in congenital diaphragmatic hernia)
- To find out the neurologic ischemia (insicient blood flow to the brain for normal metabolic state)
- To keep an eye on the development of the baby inside the womb
- To analyze foetal brain, abdomen, bones, chest which is not covered under ultrasound
