MRI Prostate (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the prostate is an imaging technique used to diagnose the extent and stage of prostate cancer and its spread in the body. Prostate MRI is also helpful in identifying any prostate infection or prostate organ malformation like enlarged prostate. Prostate MRI is considered to be as accurate as biopsy in detecting prostate cancer.
Prostate MRI uses magnetic fields and radio frequencies to determine the prostate's water and blow flow pattern. The magnetic field used in MRI is not harmful to humans. However, certain medical devices or implants may malfunction in the magnetic field. Therefore, it is advisable to consult your technologist before the test. In addition, the patient should wear comfortable clothes and remove metallic jewellery before the test.
