Understanding NCCT Mandable
What is NCCT Mandable?
Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) of the Mandible is a procedure in which the rotating X-rays beams are used to create cross-sectional images of the Mandible which can then be used to form a three dimensional image of the bone and structures surrounding it. This procedure is used to detect any fractures or lesions involving the jaw bone. It is the best technique to detect the presence of any tumours or cancerous cysts and determine its shape, size, and location before operation.
Pregnant patients should inform the doctor before undergoing an NCCT as the x-ray can harm the growing fetus. An abnormal NCCT indicates the presence of a cancerous lesion.
