Screening Lumbar Spine

MRI Screening of the Lumbar spine is an imaging technique to visualize the insides of the lower back (lumbar region). MRI is a safe and painless imaging technique that uses strong magnets and radio waves to get clear images of bones, organs, tissues, and other body parts. A doctor will recommend this test if you have symptoms like severe back pain or leg pain. MRI of the lumbar spine can diagnose disorders of bones, soft tissues, and nerves like cancer and multiple sclerosis (damage to nerves).

Before an MRI scan, patients would be asked to remove jewelry or other metallic items, and they would be asked to wear a hospital gown. Patients with pacemakers or other metal implants and claustrophobic patients should consult their doctors before an MRI scan.
