The USG (Ultrasonography) guided small aspiration is a procedure in which a thin needle is used to withdraw fluid or tissue sample from the organs while the needle is guided by real time USG image.
What is Ultrasound Guided Aspiration used for?
- To perform initial evaluation of a pathological condition before starting treatment
- To detect and diagnose cancer in deep seated organs which cannot be accessed with invasive surgical procedures
- To evaluate the recurrence of a cancer following therapy
- To monitor the efficacy of the treatment (chemotherapy) for tumors already diagnosed
