Understanding VEP
What is VEP?
The visual evoked potentials (VEP) is a noninvasive & painless electrophysiological vision test that is used to check the optic nerve problems. The optic nerve helps us to see through transfer of signals to brain. VEP may be affected by age, gender, visual acuity & size of the pupils. An abnormal VEP indicates inflammation of the optic nerve, tumours or lesions compressing the optic nerve, glaucoma & ocular hypertension. You may need this test if you have loss of vision, double vision, blurred vision, flashing lights, alterations in color vision & weakness of the eyes, arms & legs.
