X - Ray Both Hips Lateral (LAT) View is used to visualize the pelvis and the bones of the hip joint and the soft tissues (skin and muscles) surrounding it. An X-ray from the lateral view helps to complement the frontal view and is widely used.
This test is prescribed by the doctor to diagnose any fracture of the bones that form the hip joint and to monitor the healing of the broken bone after it has been set and detect any infection, osteoporosis, deformities, or abnormal growth of the bones.
