Information about Pegicol Paediatric Sachet 6.85gm
Pegicol Sachet contains Polyethylene glycol and electrolytes.
Role of Active Ingredient
Pegicol Sachet is an Osmotic laxative which is used in the treatment of constipation and fecal impaction.Pegicol contains PEG 3350, which has a high water-binding capacity and has no significant absorption in the intestine. Thus it retains water in the colon, softens and increases the water content of stools thus increasing the stool volume. PEG with electrolytes (Na+, K+, Cl-, HCO3-) prevents a significant net gain/loss of electrolytes from the body. Thus, PEGICOL provides an important safety margin, particularly for elderly patients and those at risk of electrolyte imbalance.
