These are a group of medicines related to the male sex hormones (or androgens), which regulate the functioning of the reproductive system. They are prescribed for the treatment of male hypogonadism (deficiency of testosterone). Some of these medicines are also used for treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding (periods), endometriosis (condition with pelvic pain and menstrual abnormalities), breast pain in fibrocystic disease, and female infertility.
