My son age is 8month 8 days can I give MEASLES vaccine to him now or I can give only after completing 9 months. Regards
Dr. Gopal Bansilal Samdani
Paediatrics
It is given at the age of completed 9 months (270+ days of life). Transplacental maternal anti-measles antibodies persist in the child for as long as 9 months. These antibodies protect the child against measles, hence measles usually occurs after 9 months. Giving vaccine before 9 months may not be very effective due to interference by the maternal antibodies. This rule is not always true. In countries like India, a mother may be malnourished & may not have good titres of anti- measles antibodies. Children born to such mothers can suffer from measles as early as 6 months of life. Hence during epidemics of measles the vaccine can be given as early as 6 months, but this should be followed by one more measles vaccine at 9 months.
Wash acne-prone areas only twice a day. Washing removes excess oil and dead skin cells. But too much washing can irritate the skin. Wash affected areas with a gentle cleanser and use oil-free, water-based skin care products. Use non- oily makeup. Choose oil-free cosmetics that won't clog pores. Remove makeup before going to bed. Going to sleep with cosmetics on your skin can clog your pores. Avoid touching or picking at the problem areas. Doing so can trigger more acne. Always use a clean towel or cloth to wipe your face. Always keep your hands clean and wash them regularly so that you may not touch your skin with dirty hands.
Abhay M Injection is used for active immunization for measles, a highly contagious infection caused by a virus that can be prevented effectively by getting vaccinated.
How effective is Abhay M Injection?
Abhay M Injection is considered to be highly effective in preventing measles. Two doses of Abhay M Injection give 97% protection while a single dose gives 93% protection against the infectious disease.
Is Abhay M Injection live or inactivated?
Abhay M Injection is a live attenuated virus vaccine. It contains a weakened virus that helps stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies against the actual infection causing virus. This helps protect the individual from getting infected in future, if exposed.
How long does it take Abhay M Injection to work?
Abhay M Injection starts working within a few days after getting vaccinated. Antibodies start producing within a few days but complete protection may be expected only after 2 or 3 weeks of getting Abhay M Injection.
I need to travel abroad. When should I get vaccinated with Abhay M Injection?
If you are travelling abroad, you must get vaccinated at least 2 weeks before your actual travel dates. This is because the antibodies ensure complete protection only after 2 or 3 weeks of getting vaccinated. So, make sure you plan on getting Abhay M Injection accordingly.
Can I get measles even if I am fully vaccinated?
Yes, there are rare case scenarios where even vaccinated people got measles. But, the possibility of still getting infected is extremely low, and moreover, vaccinated individuals who get infected have very mild symptoms as compared to non-vaccinated individuals. Also, if you have received both the doses of Abhay M Injection, there are very less chances of you infecting other people, including those who are not vaccinated due to low immunity or age factor.
