Product introduction
Istawin PM Tablet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It controls your blood sugar levels and helps prevent serious complications in the future. Your doctor may prescribe it alone or along with other diabetes medicines.
Istawin PM Tablet may be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal. However, the dose will depend on your condition and blood sugar levels; therefore, use it as advised by your doctor and do not stop taking this medicine unless the doctor recommends otherwise. Also, take it regularly and at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It is also crucial to stay on the diet and exercise program recommended by the doctor while taking this medicine.
The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, and constipation. These effects are usually minor and improve with time. Low blood sugar level (hypoglycemia) is a possible side effect if you are also taking other diabetes medicines, so you need to know how to recognize and deal with it. Contact the doctor if the side effects are worrisome or do not go away.
Before taking Istawin PM Tablet, let the doctor know if you have ever had kidney disease, heart or pancreas problems, or drink a lot of alcohol. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctors before taking this medicine. Some other medicines you are taking may also interfere with this combination drug; therefore, make sure your doctor knows about all the other medicines you are using. Limit your alcohol intake while taking this medicine because it can increase your risk of developing low blood sugar levels. You may also need regular tests such as kidney function and blood glucose levels to check that the medicine is working properly.

How Istawin PM Tablet works
Istawin PM Tablet is a combination of three antidiabetic medications. Metformin decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the glucose made by the liver. It also increases the body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood (blood sugar levels). Pioglitazone works by enhancing cellular responsiveness to insulin and increasing insulin-dependent glucose utilization and disposal. Sitagliptin helps to control blood sugar levels by increasing substances (incretins) in the body that make the pancreas release more insulin. It also signals the liver to stop producing sugar (glucose) when there is too much sugar in the blood.

Diabetes Ireland is delighted to hear of the Harvard success and congratulate Professor Melton and colleagues on figuring out the complex series of steps necessary to turn stem cells into beta cells. Hopefully, they can negotiate the regulations for mass production so that an abundant supply of beta cells is available an new and innovative methods will be developed to cure/treat Type 1 diabetes. Type I diabetes is an autoimmune condition whereby the body kills off its own beta (insulin producing) cells resulting in the need for daily insulin administration through the skin. Replacing beta cells in the first step towards a cure, but the replaced beta cells need to be protected from the body?s autoimmune response. This means protecting them in a coating or taking drugs to prevent the response (possible worse side effects than diabetes).
