Product introduction

Metrogyl-P 2% Ointment is a combination medicine that is used to treat skin wounds. It also prevents the growth of microorganisms that may infect the wound and promotes healing of the wound.

Metrogyl-P 2% Ointment is only meant for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. A thin layer of the medicine should be applied only to the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. If it gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina rinse with water. It may take several days to weeks for your symptoms to improve, but you should keep using this medicine regularly. The course of the treatment should be completed to ensure better efficacy of the medicine. If your condition does not improve or gets worse, you should talk to your doctor.

The most common side effect of this medicine includes itching, dryness, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. These are usually self-limiting. Serious side effects are rare. You must consult the doctor if you experience any allergic reaction (rashes, itching, swelling, shortness of breath, etc.).

CAUTION
Metrogyl-P 2% Ointment should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
If a single dose of Metrogyl-P 2% Ointment is used, it is recommended to hold breastfeeding for 12-24 hours to allow the removal of the drug.

What if you forget to take Metrogyl-P Ointment?

If you miss a dose of Metrogyl-P 2% Ointment, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Quick tips

  • Clean the wound and then apply the cream to the affected area using a sterile gloved hand or a sterile spatula.
  • Apply it once or twice daily and re-apply to any areas from which it gets removed due to activity. Burn areas should be covered with the cream at all times.
  • It may cause minor burning, stinging or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.
  • Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
