Product introduction

Prabcox 250mg Tablet is given in combination with at least one other tuberculosis medicine. It is used in cases where bacteria have developed resistance to other antibacterial medicines. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. This medicine may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time every day. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early can result in treatment failure and in the development of drug-resistant tuberculosis. This can lead to serious health complications.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose, as it may increase the side effects.

Some people may experience loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, gastric irritation (inflammation of the stomach lining) and sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing (orthostatic hypotension), as side effects of this medicine. Please consult your doctor if these side effects worry you or do not get better.

Inform your doctor if you have diabetes as it can lower the sugar levels in the blood. If you are diabetic, you should monitor your blood sugar regularly. Your doctor may monitor your liver function, vision, and thyroid function while on treatment with this medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.

Frequently asked questions

Prabcox 250mg Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat tuberculosis (TB). It is specifically used as a "second-line" treatment for more complicated cases of TB, such as multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), where the bacteria are no longer responding to the standard, first-choice medicines.<br>
Treating tuberculosis, especially drug-resistant TB, requires taking a combination of several different antibiotics, including Prabcox 250mg Tablet, at the same time. This combination therapy approach is crucial to effectively kill the TB bacteria and prevent them from developing resistance to the medicines.<br>
Treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis is a very long commitment. You will need to take Prabcox 250mg Tablet, along with your other prescribed TB medicines, for many months, and sometimes for a year, or even longer, as directed by your doctor.<br>
It is absolutely critical to take Prabcox 250mg Tablet exactly as your doctor has prescribed, without skipping any doses. If you stop the treatment early or miss doses, the TB bacteria can start to multiply again, which could make your illness worse and cause the bacteria to become even more resistant to treatment.<br>
Yes. It is generally recommended to take Prabcox 250mg Tablet with food, or right after a meal. Taking the medicine orally with food can help minimize stomach-related side effects such as nausea or upset stomach.<br>
Your doctor will likely prescribe a vitamin B6 supplement, also called pyridoxine, to take along with Prabcox 250mg Tablet. This is standard practice to help prevent a specific neurological side effect known as peripheral neuropathy, which can cause numbness, tingling, or pain in your hands and feet.<br>
Prabcox 250mg Tablet begins to work against the TB bacteria soon after you start taking it. However, because the overall treatment for TB is a slow and gradual process, it may take several weeks before you notice a significant improvement in your symptoms. Patience and adherence to the full treatment plan are key.<br>
