Information about Apalutamide
Apalutamide Uses
Apalutamide is used in the treatment of prostate cancer, cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and excessive hair growth.
How Apalutamide works
Prostate cancer cells depend on androgens to grow and survive. Even in cases where the cancer becomes resistant to standard hormonal therapies (castration-resistant), androgen receptors in the cancer cells continue to be active and promote cancer growth. Apalutamide targets these androgen receptors, blocks their activation, and prevents them from binding to androgens. This action inhibits the signaling pathway that drives the growth and proliferation of prostate cancer cells.
