Clofarabine is used in the treatment of blood cancer (acute lymphocytic leukemia).
How Clofarabine works
Clofarabine is an anticancer medication. It works by preventing the multiplication of the abnormal white blood cells. It does so by suppressing the production of the cells' genetic material, DNA. Cancer cells require DNA for growth and multiplication.
Common side effects of Clofarabine
Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Headache, Rash, Itching, Fever due to low white blood cell count (neutrophils), Fatigue, Anxiety, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Mucosal inflammation
