Elemental Iron + Folic Acid contains two hematinic substances. Elemental iron replenishes the iron stores in your body, and folic acid, a form of vitamin B, helps maintain levels of folate. Both iron and folic acid are vital for the formation of new red blood cells and hemoglobin, a substance that gives RBCs the ability to transport oxygen.
Common side effects of Elemental Iron + Folic Acid
Iron supplements can make your stool look darker in color. This is completely harmless.
Let your doctor know if you are taking any antibiotics.
Inform your doctor if you have any gastrointestinal disorders, like peptic ulcer or ulcerative colitis.
Elemental Iron + Folic Acid can cause constipation, try to eat a well-balanced diet and drink several glasses of water every day. Never use a stool softener (laxative) without consulting your doctor.
