Brucella Antibody, Total
Understanding Brucella Antibody, Total
What is Brucella Antibody, Total?
Brucella Antibody, Total is a serological blood test used to detect Brucellosis, a bacterial infection caused by various Brucella species. Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease transmitted from animals to humans, either by direct contact or by ingestion of raw meat or milk from the infected organisms. The symptoms of brucellosis are often similar to flu symptoms, including fatigue, fever, and joint pains. If you are infected with brucellosis, your body will secrete certain antibodies against the brucella bacteria. This test looks for those anti-brucella antibodies in your blood. However, this test may not help detect the disease at an early stage.
An abnormal (positive) test result may indicate the presence of Brucella antibodies or various health illnesses caused by Brucella species.
