CECT Venogaphy
Understanding CECT Venogaphy
What is CECT Venogaphy?
CECT Venography is a Contrast Enhanced Computerized Tomography (CECT) scan used to monitor blood flow in the veins and detect any abnormalities. In this diagnostic test, rotating beams of X-rays create 3-Dimensional clear pictures of the veins and the blood flow. A contrast media (a special dye) is injected to enhance the view and highlight the veins with abnormalities like cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT), deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), malignancy or lymphedema.
A CECT Venography can monitor the outline and structure of veins to determine the presence of abnormalities such as blockages or blood clots. It is also used to identify the pattern and condition of varicose veins before surgery. A CECT Venography can also be employed for guiding procedures for grafts and stents or locating veins during dialysis.
What is CECT Venogaphy used for?
- • To monitor the condition of the veins • To detect the presence of blood clots or any blockade in the veins • To determine the pattern of varicose veins before a surgery • To locate a suitable vein for dialysis or bypass procedures • To help guide treatment procedures like grafts or stents
