Drug of Abuse Panel-10
Understanding Drug of Abuse Panel-10
What is Drug of Abuse Panel-10?
Drugs of Abuse Panel- 10 detects the presence or absence of 10 commonly abused medicines like opiates, amphetamine, barbiturates, methadone, phencyclidine (PCP), benzodiazepine, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and tricyclic antidepressants (TCA). This test looks for the presence of small molecules (metabolites) released during the breakdown of any of these ingested medicines. This test helps confirm the recent use of an abused medicine and has a role in diagnosis, treatment, and addiction monitoring. Also, it is done when you are suspected of misusing prescriptions or abusing banned medicines. Private employers or government agencies conduct this test as a condition of employment. This test is essential as clinical examination, patient self-reporting, or any reporting document may underestimate the actual frequency of substance use.
