EBV IgM antibody to Viral Capsid Antigen

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a common virus that spreads through saliva and causes infectious mononucleosis, also known as mono. Most individuals are exposed to EBV at some point in their lives, and while many have mild or no symptoms, some experience fatigue, sore throat, fever, and swollen lymph nodes.

The EBV IgM antibody to Viral Capsid Antigen test measures the levels of IgM antibodies in the blood, which appear early during infection. A positive result usually means a recent or active EBV infection. This test is particularly useful when someone presents with symptoms such as extreme tiredness, fever, sore throat, or enlarged spleen, and EBV is suspected.
