The KOH Staining, Nail test is a simple non-invasive test used to detect fungal infections in nails. A sample of nail debris is collected from the infected area and treated with a KOH (potassium hydroxide) solution, which dissolves in a reagent (chemical dye), making fungal elements like hyphae or spores visible under a microscope.
