Understanding MR Angiography Neck
What is MR Angiography Neck?
Magnetic Resonance (MR) Angiography creates images of soft tissues, bones, and internal body structures using a magnetic field, radio waves, and a computer. No radiation is used, but contrast dye may be injected during the exam. Despite this, MRA can still provide high-quality images without using contrast material. Therefore, it is beneficial for patients who suffer from allergies or have compromised kidney or liver functions.
Angiograms are used to diagnose and treat disorders of the blood vessels. MRA of the neck is used to get 3D images of the blood vessels. It is usually used to determine whether the neck arteries have narrowed or had any blockages.
MRA scans take less time and do not require recovery time unless sedation is used.
