What is MRI Face With Contrast?
A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Face with Contrast is an imaging procedure used to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions involving bones, joints, and soft tissues in the facial area. The contrast helps in increasing the visibility of the internal organs and hence improves the sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy of the MRI scan.
This test is prescribed by the doctor to identify infections involving facial structures and soft tissues, including cellulitis, and orbital infection.This test is also helpful in finding out the progression and extent of tumor growth in the head region, and to guide as a pre-surgical preparation for tumour progression and removal.
What is MRI Face With Contrast used for?
- To detect any infection in the face (facial abscess) region including salivary gland, throat (pharynx), mouth, nasal cavity, ear, vocal cords (larynx), sinuses
- To diagnose the hearing loss and damaged caused to ear’s soft tissues
- To find out the progression and extent of tumor growth in the head/neck region
- To evaluate stroke, nervous disorder like multiple sclerosis, aneurysm (damaged blood vessels of the brain)
