Understanding MRI Right Foot With Contrast
What is MRI Right Foot With Contrast?
A Magnetic Resonance Imagining (MRI) of the Right Foot with Contrast is used to visualize the bones of the foot along with the surrounding soft tissues like the tendons, ligaments, muscles, and blood vessels. The contrast helps in increasing the visibility of the internal organs and hence improves the sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy of the MRI scan.
This test is prescribed by the doctor to diagnose any broken/fractured bones of the foot and to diagnose any suspected osteoporosis, deformities, or abnormal growth of the bones and arthritis (inflammation of the joints).
What is MRI Right Foot With Contrast used for?
- To diagnose any broken/fractured bones of the foot
- To diagnose any injury to the soft tissues like ligaments, tendons or the surrounding muscles
- To diagnose any suspected osteoporosis, deformities or abnormal growth of the bones and arthritis (inflammation of the joints)
- To diagnose foot abscess (deep infections of the soft tissues) and osteomyelitis (infection of the bones)
Answers to Patient Concerns & Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about MRI Right Foot With Contrast
Frequently Asked Questions about MRI Right Foot With Contrast
Q. What are the drawbacks of a bone X-ray?
X-ray images give a very clear view of the bones. However, it does not provide a good visual image of the soft tissues like tendons, muscles or fat tissue under the skin. Even the bone microfractures or complicated spine injuries are not clearly visible on the X Ray images. Apart from this, it also exposes the patient to some amount of radiations but the benefit of the information gained from an X-ray image outweighs the risk of radiations.
Q. Who interprets the X-ray results?
The interpretation of an X-Ray image is carried out by a radiologist who analyses or reads the X-ray image and prepares a report of the findings which is shared with the patient.
