What is Ultrasound Chest?
USG of chest commonly known as ultrasound of chest is used to visualize the conditions of organs and structures within the chest. The organs that are covered in this test are lungs, area in the chest including heart, aorta, trachea, esophagus, thymus & lymph nodes & spaces between lungs and interior wall of chest. This test also help in the asessment of blood flow to the chest organs. USG of chest determines the type of excess fluid in the space within the chest. The fluid can be exudate which is seen in inflammatory, cancerous or infectious conditions or can be transudate which is the fluid leaked from blood. The test usually takes 1 hour and causes no pain & discomfort.
