No, Fentiderm Cream is neither an antibiotic nor a steroid. It belongs to the imidazole class of antifungals. It is used to treat candidiasis (thrush) occurring in the vulva and vagina.
Q. Does Fentiderm Cream have any effect on contraceptives?
Yes, Fentiderm Cream can damage condoms and diaphragms (barrier method of contraception), thereby affecting their efficacy. Therefore, instead of using these, you can use alternative methods of contraception such as contraceptive pills.
Q. How should Fentiderm Cream be used?
Fentiderm Cream should be used strictly as per the doctor’s advice. The usual dose of Fentiderm Cream is one applicator full in the morning and one applicator full in the evening for 3 days. Your symptoms may disappear quickly, but it is important that you continue using the cream for 3 days. Consult your doctor in case you have any confusion regarding the medicine, if your condition worsens or if there is no improvement.

Do not store Fentiderm Cream above 30°C. Store in the original container. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date shown on the outer packaging. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Fentiderm Cream can cause certain side effects in some people. Using Fentiderm Cream may cause mild and transient rash or burning sensations that generally disappear rapidly. Additionally, using Fentiderm Cream for prolonged periods of time may make you allergic to it.

Fentiderm Cream does not affect sex life. However, do not have vaginal intercourse as long as you are using Fentiderm Cream. Also, condoms and diaphragms may get damaged and may fail to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Fentiderm Cream can be used again if the candidal infection returns after 7 days. However, if the candidal infection recurs more than twice within six months, you should consult your doctor whether it is candidal infection or something else.
Q. What precautions are necessary while using Fentiderm Cream?
Do not start treatment with Fentiderm Cream during menstruation as the cream will be washed off with blood flow. The treatment should be finished before the onset of menstruation. Do not use tampons, vaginal douches, spermicide or other vaginal products while using Fentiderm Cream.
