How Genoptic HC Products work

Gentamicin + Hydrocortisone is a combination of two medicines: Gentamicin + Hydrocortisone1 and Gentamicin + Hydrocortisone2. Gentamicin + Hydrocortisone1 is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Gentamicin + Hydrocortisone2 is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.
