Q. What is Loz 30mg Capsule? What is it used for?
Loz 30mg Capsule belongs to a class of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors. Loz 30mg Capsule is used for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal ulcers), reflux esophagitis or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used to treat a disease associated with excessive acid production in the stomach known as Zollinger Ellison syndrome (ZES). It works by reducing the amount of acid made by your stomach.
Q. How is Loz 30mg Capsule given through the nasogastric tube?
Your doctor or nurse will show you the correct way of giving Loz 30mg Capsule through the nasogastric (NG) tube. Open the Loz 30mg Capsule capsule and empty the granules into a syringe. Mix the contents with apple juice in the syringe and attach it to the NG tube and give directly into the stomach. Once given, flush the NG tube with more apple juice to clear the tube.
Q. Should Loz 30mg Capsule be taken empty stomach or with food?
Usually, Loz 30mg Capsule is taken once a day, first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. If you take Loz 30mg Capsule twice a day, take 1 dose in the morning and 1 dose in the evening. The tablets should be swallowed whole (remember not be chewed or crushed) and taken at least 1 hour before a meal with some water.
Q. While taking Loz 30mg Capsule, which foods should be avoided?
You should preferably avoid foods that cause acidity and heartburn as they will only worsen your condition, for example: fried or spicy food, butter, oil, and juices, caffeinated drinks like cola or tea, drinks from citrus fruits like lemon water or orange juice and alcohol.

Yes, Loz 30mg Capsule is used in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive gastritis in children. However, the safety and effectiveness of Loz 30mg Capsule are established only in children between 1 to 17 years of age.
