Q. Is Remogliflozin Etabonate effective?
Remogliflozin Etabonate is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Remogliflozin Etabonate too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.
Q. What is the recommended method of taking Remogliflozin Etabonate?
Take the recommended dose advised by the doctor. Remogliflozin Etabonate may be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water, preferably at the same time each day. For best results, it is important to stay on a diet and exercise program as directed by your doctor.
Q. Can Remogliflozin Etabonate be used with other diabetes medicine?
Yes, Remogliflozin Etabonate can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medicines. However, along with medicines, proper diet and exercise should be followed.
Q. Can the use of Remogliflozin Etabonate cause hypoglycemia (very low blood sugar levels)?
Remogliflozin Etabonate on its own does not cause very low blood sugar. However, if Remogliflozin Etabonate is taken along with other diabetes medicines such as insulin, sulfonylurea or meglitinides, then you may experience hypoglycemia.
Q. If I forget to take Remogliflozin Etabonate, what should I do?
If you forget to take Remogliflozin Etabonate and the next dose is due after 12 hours, take it as soon as you remember and take the next dose at the scheduled time. However, if it is less than 12 hours until your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose of Remogliflozin Etabonate to make up for a forgotten dose.
Q. I am taking furosemide for high blood pressure, can I take Remogliflozin Etabonate with it?
Remogliflozin Etabonate may cause excessive fluid loss or frequent urination, resulting in dehydration. Since furosemide also causes fluid loss, taking it with Remogliflozin Etabonate may cause fainting or loss of consciousness, unusual thirst, and lightheadedness or dizziness upon standing. Inform your doctor about furosemide before starting Remogliflozin Etabonate.
Q. What is the significance of the HbA1c test?
HbA1c test is done to see how well you have managed your blood sugar for the past 2-3 months. Your doctor may ask you to get your HbA1c tested every 3 months.
Q. Can I stop taking Remogliflozin Etabonate?
No, do not stop taking Remogliflozin Etabonate without consulting your doctor. This can lead to a sudden increase in your blood glucose levels. Use the medicine strictly as per the dose and duration advised by the doctor. Never stop taking any medicine without consulting your doctor.

Frequently asked questions about Vildagliptin

Q. When should I take Vildagliptin?
You can take Vildagliptin tablets before, with or after meals. If you have been prescribed to take this medicine once daily, then take it in the morning. In case you have to take it twice daily, then you should prefer taking the first dose in the morning and the second dose in the evening.
Q. Does Vildagliptin cause hypoglycemia?
Yes, Vildagliptin may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), but the chances are lesser as compared to other antidiabetic drugs. Evidence suggests that treatment with Vildagliptin has been shown to cause hypoglycemia in very rare cases. The risk is low even in those who are prone to hypoglycemia like elderly people or people being treated with insulin. However, the chance of hypoglycemia increases if Vildagliptin is taken along with other antidiabetic drugs.
Q. Does Vildagliptin cause weight gain?
No, Vildagliptin does not cause weight gain. Moreover, medicines, such as Vildagliptin, are generally supposed to decrease weight since they act by increasing satiety (feeling of fullness) and delaying emptying of the stomach. This further decreases hunger, restricting the patient from eating more than required.
Q. Is Vildagliptin the same as sitagliptin?
No, Vildagliptin is not the same as Sitagliptin, but both drugs belong to the same class. Additionally, these two drugs have a similar mechanism of decreasing blood glucose levels.
